Beaded Cording
Beaded cording is so fun to add to your projects.
This technique is great for ornaments that you want to add an additional ornate feature. What I really like about it: this is a cording technique you can go back and apply to any finished project you have. So if you feel like any of your projects need a little extra oomph, this would be a way to do it.
If you've beaded before on your needlepoint projects, this will probably feel pretty comfortable for you (and if you've done beading in the past, this is an excuse to use that stash!)
Overall Look:
-
Try clear or white beads over white cording
-
Try colored beads over a specific color cording
-
I really like it with just one solid color cording
-
You can experiment with different bead sizes and color (e.g. each line of beads could be a different color of the rainbow)
Things to keep in mind:
-
For the best look, you want your beads to be applied at a consistent width and angle. Follow one color of your cording to achieve this
-
Always plunge down into the needlepoint canvas for the most invisible look and ensuring you're not snagging your stitching
Beaded Topper
A beaded topper adds a professional looking cherry on top to your cording. Again, this is a techinique you can add to any of your existing projects!
Here's where I got mine in your kits (Amazon link, but I'm sure you can find regionally as well).
Width-wise, the opening is about 4.5 mm and accommodates a 9 strand cord.
Try it with or without a bow. I like organza for most projects, and pro tip: if you buy white and cream, it goes iwth almost everything you can imagine.
